Basic training intended for students, graduated, PhD students and PhD in the humanities in linguistics, philology, and literature who wish to acquire essential skills for the use of the TLIO tools and for the writing of TLIO entries. The main requirement is familiarity with medieval texts written in different Italo-Romance linguistic varieties and with basic Italian lexicographic tools. The program includes a 5 day (from Monday to Friday) training period at the OVI Institute, the assignment of some TLIO entries, to be written with the help of the OVI online resources, and discussion of relevant issues that may emerge during revision of the entries. The training activity, which may lead to publication of the assigned entries, is not a trial period for employment, and does not provide reimbursement for travel and accommodation exspenses. To attend this course, which takes place in the fall/autumn (see below), please send a letter of interest to the attention of the OVI Director Dr.Paolo Squillacioti by the deadline indicated below and using the following procedure.

In 2020, compatibly with the decrees of the national government, the Tuscany Region and the CNR Direzione Generale for the containment of the emergency related to the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), the basic training session (coordinated by Giulio Vaccaro) will take place in four consecutive weeks: September, 14-18; September, 21-25; September, 28-October, 2; October, 5-9. The deadline for submitting applications is 10th July 2020. The training will take place in e-learning if the presence in the OVI Institute will not be allowed.

Due to the observance of the social distancing, the number of participants in each course cannot exceed eight units. If the applications exceed 32 available places, priority will be given to candidates from universities or institutions with which the OVI has agreements or exchanges; we will evaluate the interests of study and research of the candidates, giving preference to those who carry out research in the areas of the history of Italian language, philology and literature.
