Basic Training

Basic training intended  for students in the humanities or PhD holders in linguistics, philology, and literature who wish to acquire essential skills for the the writing of TLIO entries. The main requirement is familiarity with medieval texts written in different Italo-Romance linguistic varieties and with basic Italian lexicographic tools. The program includes a 5 day (from Monday to Friday) training period at the OVI Institute, the assignment of some TLIO entries, to be written with the help of the OVI online resources, and discussion of relevant issues that may emerge during revision of the entries. The training activity, which may lead to publication of the assigned entries, is not a trial period for employment, and does not provide reimbursement for travel and accommodation exspenses. To attend this course, which takes place in the fall/autumn (see below), please send a letter of interest to the attention of the OVI Director Prof. Lino Leonardi by the deadline indicated below and using the following procedure.

In 2017 the basic training session will begin on Monday, September 25 and end on Friday, September 29 at the OVI Institute. The deadline for submitting applications is June 30, 2017. No more than 25 persons can be accepted: in the case of a greater number of requests, we will organize a second session in October.
