Basic training intended for students, graduated, PhD students and PhD in the humanities in linguistics, philology, and literature who wish to acquire essential skills for the use of the TLIO tools and for the writing of TLIO entries.
The main requirement is familiarity with medieval texts written in different Italo-Romance linguistic varieties and with basic Italian lexicographic tools. The program includes a 5 day (from Monday to Friday) training period at the OVI Institute on the use of the OVI resources, the assignment of some TLIO entries, and discussion of relevant issues that may emerge during revision of the entries. The training activity, which may lead to publication of the assigned entries, is not a trial period for employment, and does not provide reimbursement for travel and accommodation exspenses. To attend this course, which takes place in the fall/autumn (see below), please send a letter of interest to the attention of the OVI Director, Dr. Paolo Squillacioti, by the deadline indicated below and using the following procedure.
In 2024, the basic training session (coordinated by Diego Dotto, Rossella Mosti and Zeno
Verlato) will took place over three consecutive weeks: September, 9-13; September, 16-20; September. The deadline for submitting applications is July 23, 2024.
For a smooth
running of the course, no more than 45 applications will be accepted. In the
case of a higher number of applications, a selection will be made taking into
account the home universities or institutions which the OVI has agreements with
or exchanges, and the research interests of the candidates, consistent with the
history of the early Italian language, philology and literature.
You must send via email a letter of interest with CV and accluding a letter of support by a teacher at the unversity or insititution where you graduated or where you are studying; it is also requested to indicate an order of preference for the 4 weeks.
