GATTO

GATTO ( Gestione degli Archivi Testuali del Tesoro delle Origini) is a lexicographic software designed and developed by Domenico Iorio-Fili at the OVI Institute. This software was created as a tool for the development, management and interrogation of the textual corpus underpinning the Historical Thesaurus of Italian, currently under way at the OVI Institute.
Therefore, the OVI textual corpus is implemented in GATTO. Other textual corpora prepared by other groups of scholars are implemented in GATTO as well.
More generally, GATTO enables lexicographic searches of a generic textual corpus file provided that the texts, appropriately coded, are available on file along with the accompanying bibliographic data.
In order to be analyzed, every text must be accompanied by appropriate codes indicating page numbers, sections of the text, passages in verses, sections to exclude from the search itself, etc. All that is needed to create such a file is an appropriate word processor.
GATTO manages textual corpora and not individual texts (even though it can be used to create a corpus of a single text ). A corpus can then be modified through the addition or deletion of other texts. Further, the lexicographic searches can be extended to the entire corpus or occasionally restricted to one or more subsets of the includedtexts. It is also possible to alternate among different corpora, if available.
The program comes with context-sensitive online instructions providing assistance while performing specific tasks, and an instruction manual available in Word97, RTF or PDF.

These functions correspond to four main environments within the program: search , single-text lemmatization , corpus lemmatization , and database management .

PLUTO
Pluto (Piattaforma Lessicografica Unica del Tesoro delle Origini) is a web application, developed by Salvatore Arcidiacono at OVI, for the writing, management and publishing of the Tesoro della Lingua Italiana delle Origini (TLIO). Pluto aims at the progressive integration of the entire set of archives and tools relating with TLIO in an integrated environment, merging databases and applications previously running on separated systems.
The first published module of Pluto is dedicated to the Bibliografia dei Testi Volgari (BTV). The software is based on Lexicad, a set of libraries and tools – describing the data structure and behavior of a lexicographic system – designed for web-based dictionary development.
