The Italian
Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Minister of Cultural Heritage and
Activities and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, declared March 25 as Dantedì (Dante’s
Day) for celebrating the 700th anniversary of Dante's death.
The choice
of March 25 is not accidental as, for many scholars, this would be the date on
which the journey to the afterlife would begin.
For the
occasion, the Institute of Mediterranean European History (ISEM-CNR) made a video, entitled "The CNR for Dante", where scholars of the sector
will participate with readings of Dante's passages or with the description of
their activities research related to the topic.
Participants
in the initiative, among others, are Paolo Squillacioti and Elena Artale from OVI.
The President Emeritus of the Accademia della Crusca, Francesco Sabatini, will introduce the event.
